Processing Band Posters
This was a project created for my Creative Coding class. I used a mix of Processing and Photoshop to create these interactive, music playing posters. Each posters has different aspects that I love and that I struggled with. For the posters overall, I would say that my frustrations came from not knowing where to even begin with my code. But the triumphs I felt after finishing each poster or overcoming a problem was amazing. I did three posters for three of my favorite bands.
Imagine Dragons
I did Imagine Dragons based on their newest album with their new song Natural. Their poster was just inspired by their overall sound and style. My struggle with this poster was I wanted the gradient circle, that I created in photoshop, to pulse to the music, but when done it would become blurry. So to remedy this situation I created a circle in processing that did the pulsing instead.
The 1975
So next was the 1975 and this was based upon their new album cover. I chose the song TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME because I felt like the beat was fun for this project. The 1975 are very minimal with their covers with pops of color or some type of interest. I wanted to do that here. My struggle with this poster was to figure out how to change the background when a viewer clicks it. I finally figured it out and felt it was a fun touch to the overall poster.
Twenty One Pilots
The last, but certainly not least, is a Twenty One Pilots poster. I chose to do their song Kitchen Sink because it is one of my favorites. I got this idea while sitting in class and could not figure out the logic behind getting the sink to drip to the music. I was on Youtube when I saw the Coding Train channel had done a video on how to make purple rain, I watched that and adapted the code so that the water drops’ speed were mapped to the music and that they actually looked like little water drops. I was super proud after I finished this poster, because I almost gave up on the idea completely.
